Yellowstone’s universe is expanding at a breakneck speed. Yellowstone was the first, followed by 1883, and then 6666. Another Yellowstone prequel series, 1932, will launch soon and will, as you might think, follow the Duttons during the 1930s.
The fact that it’s another Taylor Sheridan film means it’ll be full of complicated family dynamics, vast western landscapes, and plenty of drama. Because the Paramount+ project is still in development, there are few details about the show’s premiere date, cast, or plot at this moment. We’ve put together a list of everything we’ve learned thus far because we know you’re curious.
1932 Release Date
Let’s start with one of the most often asked topics regarding the upcoming show: how will the audience react? According to Paramount+, 1932 has yet to be granted a release date. This show has yet to begin production; in fact, it has yet to begin filming at all. Because the show was only recently announced, it will take some time to premiere. As a result, filming has yet to commence, and a release date for the picture has yet to be set. Furthermore, as previously said, we do not expect 1932 to be released by the end of 2022.
The show’s production will take some time, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see it. They’ll most likely begin production in late 2022, with a premiere scheduled for mid-to-late 2023. We expect the program to be completed in 2023, even if manufacturing does not start for a few months. We’ll also have more opportunities to see our favorite relatives. The show is most likely still in development, or the episodes are currently under production.
1932 Characters
For the time being, the cast list from 1932 is being kept under wraps. While watching the trailer above, you’ll notice a young John Dutton Sr. on the screen, as Sheridan stated that the children from 1883 who would star in the new spinoff are the children from the original series (around 44).
This raises the question of who will play the older Audie Rick in the upcoming film. Because the prequel takes place between 1883 and the present, it’s possible that flashback and flash-forward scenes in the prequel will feature some of your favorite characters from Yellowstone and 1883.
1932 Storyline
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ simply stated that 1932 “will follow a new generation of Duttons amid a period of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.” Meanwhile, Paramount+ has released a teaser trailer with commentary from the show’s executive producer.
By describing why he chose 1932 as the year to travel back in time, Sheridan lays the groundwork for what’s to come. “I had built out this back story of where the Dutton family came from, and I chose 1932 to peek back in because you’re watching the kids we saw in 1883 attempting to raise another generation of Dutton at a time when the wild west is becoming a playground for the elite from the east,” the author explains.
1932, unlike Yellowstone, will not be broadcast on the Paramount Network. It will be available to stream on Paramount+ once it is released to the general public. Subscription rates start at $4.99 per month, but you may try it out for free for seven days before you commit.
It’s well worth the money because you’ll get access to a number of additional Sheridan-produced performances, like 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown, in addition to 1932. To watch previous and new episodes of Yellowstone, you’ll need to keep your cable subscription or sign up for a Peacock subscription (Yellowstone’s exclusive streaming service).
