1975 announced the day that their fifth album, “Being Funny In A Foreign Language,” will be released. They will release their newest song, “Part Of The Band,” as the album’s first teaser tomorrow (July 7).

Fans have discovered posters announcing that the follow-up to 2020’s “Notes On A Conditional Form” would be released in its entirety on October 14 via Dirty Hit. A few hours after the band published another teaser of “Part of the Band,” they made the news via their official mailing list.

Frontman Matty Healy shared a 10-second preview of the next song, “Part Of The Band,” on his Instagram page late last month in advance of its release. On several black-and-white billboards, the words to the song “Part Of The Band” were shown.

1975 will perform two live shows as part of Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in August. The performances will be the group’s first live performances since their March 2020 performance in Dublin. The band released its most recent album, “Notes On A Conditional Form,” in the middle of 2020, and at the beginning of 2022, they published a video that appeared to show the group back in the recording studio.

Fans have long speculated about the band’s follow-up to “Notes On A Conditional Form,” with Healy making light of the idea of “creating another ‘great record'” back in August 2021. Healy returned to Reddit last week to give fresh information on the album, informing fans that he had “just started doing interviews where I explain the record and its context.”

He continued by saying that the song “New York,” which people thought was a brand-new 1975 tune and which he had performed live in Los Angeles last year while opening for Phoebe Bridgers, was really written by his Dirty Hit labelmate, Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

“I adore the song, but there was no bridge. As a result, when I played Phoebe’s opening act, I kind of wanted to recreate the Greenwich Village folk scene from the 1950s, when musicians would perform cover songs. ‘I wrote the bridge,’ I said. after which he “joined the band.” 1975 did not write the song “New York,” but it will be done someday. Love you; I’ll see you shortly.
