There are reports of a gunshot having taken place at the Northlake Mall in Charlotte.
According to the investigators, one of the victims was already present inside the business when the suspect came in and engaged in a “verbal exchange” with them. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, at which point the suspect opened fire, wounding both the person with whom he had been arguing and another victim who had nothing to do with the argument.

Both individuals who had been shot were transported by emergency medical services to a trauma center. It is believed that the victim who was involved in the “verbal exchange” has sustained injuries that could potentially be fatal. The injuries sustained by the person who was not involved in the incident are not thought to be life-threatening.
According to the investigators, they ran into the suspect as they were responding, and after seeing them, the suspect dropped their weapon and fled the scene. The suspect turned themselves in just outside of the shopping center, and they were immediately brought into the jail.
