Two ladies were taken into custody Tuesday after an incident caught on camera at the Miami International Airport ticket desk escalated into a physical altercation with an airline employee.
Only Dade posted a video of the incident at the Frontier Airlines counter shortly before 9:30 a.m., showing both women in police arrest. They arrived 45 minutes late for their flight to Atlanta, so according to Miami-Dade Police, the two women had to miss it.
According to an arrest complaint, Makyan Mercer, 20, hurled a plastic sign holder at an employee, creating a gash on her face during an argument. As police took Mercer into custody, the other woman, later identified as 21-year-old Janaeah Negash, allegedly tried to intervene, placing herself in the way and yelling, “Don’t touch her!” according to the arrest report.

Negash was also arrested and booked for violently resisting arrest and unruly conduct. Mercer was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, violent resistance to arrest, and disorderly behavior.
The two suspects, identified as Negash and Mercer, were found to be residents of Durham, North Carolina. In this case, the injured worker was sent to Jackson Memorial Hospital for care.
Frontier Airlines issued a statement saying the women became hostile when they were informed they could not check in because the time had passed the statutory cut-off hour.
We are shocked by the actions of the two customers who were eventually arrested, and we are doing everything we can to help the injured team member. Both will be ineligible to fly with us again in the future,” the statement read.
