Police in Lake County are looking for two people they think stole copper wire worth about $2,000 from an electrician near Sorrento.
It was just after midnight on Tuesday when the suspects hit L.E. Myers on State Road 46, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
“ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY!! The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify these two pictured suspects who stole copper wire from L.E. Myers in Sorrento. Please contact Detective Getford at 352-343-9500 or CRIMELINE with any information.”
Two people in hooded sweatshirts—one wearing shorts and the other wearing pants—are seen on surveillance footage taking copper wire rolls off the ground near the door to the business.
A business representative told police that he didn’t know exactly how much copper was stolen, but that he thought it was worth around $2,000. According to the case report, this would be considered grand theft and burglary of a vacant building.
