A 22-year-old woman’s boyfriend has been detained in connection with her gruesome death. The woman was discovered in her New York City apartment dismembered, with her body parts placed into two suitcases.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez reported that Justin Williams, 24, was detained on Monday and arraigned on charges of second-degree murder and concealing a human corpse.

Officers were called to the sixth-floor apartment of his girlfriend D’Asia Johnson, 22, on Linwood Avenue in East New York on September 21 for a wellness check, and they discovered her remains inside two suitcases.
Gonzalez’s announcement provided fresh information regarding Johnson’s passing. On August 21, Johnson returned home from work “and never left the apartment again,” according to Gonzalez.
According to the inquiry, Williams, who had been dating Johnson for a while, allegedly stabbed her nine times on August 22 in the early morning hours, five times to the front of her chest and four times to the rear.

Then, according to the allegations, he dismembered her body and hid the pieces within the two suitcases. According to the district attorney’s statement, “He allegedly lived in the apartment for a month and used towels and cleaning supplies to hide the stench.”
Following a wellness check by building staff who got concerned when they hadn’t seen Johnson for some time, Williams is said to have left the unit. Her remains were discovered when the building staff alerted the police.

Williams was ordered held without bail at his Monday hearing and must appear in court again on January 25, 2023. He could spend up to 25 years in prison if found guilty. His listed attorney has been contacted by NBC News for comment.
“This guy is charged with killing and horrifically dismembering his former lover. Gonzalez stated in a statement, “We are committed to bringing this criminal to justice, even if we cannot undo the tragic and horrible death of D’Asia Johnson. “I hope that D’Asia’s family and friends can find some comfort in this prosecution.”
