FLORIDA’S LAKE COUNTY — The sheriff’s office announced Tuesday that three people are facing manslaughter charges in connection with the drug overdose death of an infant in Lake County in May. Logan Bixler, a 4-month-old infant who was unresponsive, was found by deputies in the 42000 block of Dogwood Avenue in DeLand on May 19 at about 9:30 a.m.
The sheriff’s office reported that Bixler was taken to AdventHealth DeLand where he was declared deceased. A few months later, Bixler received toxicology findings that showed methamphetamine was present in his bloodstream. According to the findings, he presumably consumed or inhaled methamphetamine and died suddenly after consumption.

Accidental methamphetamine overdose was identified as the root cause. The house contained methamphetamine, which was found. According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation showed that the mother of the kid, 25-year-old Jaden Colwell, had two drug users over to use meth in her living room the night of Bixler’s death.
The investigation led to the issuance of manslaughter warrants for Corey Albert Mincey, 40, and Robert Lee Walters, 42. Tuesday afternoon, Mincey was arrested. Walters is still at large and is thought to be in the eastern Lake County neighborhood of Highland Lakes.
Tuesday saw the arrest of Colwell after she was charged with distributing fentanyl illegally and causing death. She is being detained in connection with a more recent, separate drug case involving an adult male in her neighborhood in July and is facing charges from the State Attorney’s Office for the aggravated manslaughter of a child.
