Five carjackings and attempted carjackings, one of which left a victim hurt, were done by gunmen in Lake County in a matter of hours on Wednesday evening.
The things that happened took place in Lindenhurst, Waukegan, and Gurnee.
The first one happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Waukegan Fruit Market at 951 South Lewis Avenue in Waukegan, according to a message sent out by the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN).
The suspect was a black man in a mask who pulled out a gun and stole an SUV from the victim.
About 10 minutes later, a second car was stolen in the 900 block of North Green Bay Road in Waukegan.
According to another ISPERN alert, two men who were black and wearing masks pulled out a gun and stole the victim’s Jaguar.
At 6:55 p.m., 30 minutes after the first alert, another one was sent out about an incident at the Walgreens at 399 Route 45 in Lindenhurst.
Lake and McHenry County Scanner heard from a source that the event was an attempt to steal a car. A suspect had a gun in his hand.
According to reports, the Gurnee Fire Department went to the scene to check on a person who had been beaten.

Investigators took fingerprints from a car parked in front of the business.
At 7:10 p.m., 15 minutes later, a car was stolen from Dick’s Sporting Goods at 6140 Route 132 in Gurnee.
Another ISPERN alert says that a black male offender pulled out a gun and drove away with the victim’s Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The fifth thing was said to have happened around 10:55 p.m. in the 2500 block of Washington Street in Waukegan.
Four black men stole the victim’s Lincoln MKX, at least one of whom was carrying a gun. At the time, there was a dog in the car.
It was thought that the Mercedes SUV that was stolen in the first carjacking of the night was the same car that was being chased in all five crimes.
There was also a report of an armed carjacking in Waukegan on Tuesday night, but it was unclear if the suspects were the same as those on Wednesday night.
Police said that around 11:20 p.m., the victim walked out to their yellow Chevrolet Malibu in the 2500 block of Village Park Drive in Waukegan to get something from it.
Two men, described as black and wearing ski masks and black clothes, were dropped off in a car and went up to the victim.
The suspects pulled out a gun and stole the victim’s Chevrolet.
