Police say seven people were taken to nearby hospitals after a car crossed into opposing traffic lanes, causing a five-vehicle crash in Gurnee Thursday evening. On Thursday, around 5 p.m., a multi-vehicle crash with people hurt was reported in Gurnee, Illinois. The police and the fire department were called to the scene, and they found people who were hurt in the crash.
Emergency crews arrived and found a lot of damaged cars, Gurnee Police Department Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said. It looks like a 32-year-old Waukegan man was driving a 2019 Honda sedan south on Delany Road when it crossed the center line and came into contact with other cars.

In Gaylor’s words, the Honda hit a 2006 Nissan sedan and caused it to roll over. The Honda kept going south in the northbound lanes of Delany Road, and it hit two other cars that were going the other way. A fifth car hit debris that was on the road, Gaylor said.
According to fire radio traffic, additional ambulances were requested from the Newport Township Fire Protection District and the Waukegan Fire Department. Four ambulances arrived at the scene.
Paramedics took seven people to hospitals in the area, including Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, and Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest. According to Gaylor, all seven people had non-life-threatening injuries.
