The Night the Shot was Fired at the Officer at the Rogers Park.
On Tuesday around 9:30 pm, Thomas was driving eastbound on Jonquil Terrace and turned towards Bosworth Avenue where he drove past a stop sign at the intersection, according to the officials. The officers on patrol in an unmarked squad car noted the violation and followed him. They eventually pulled him up over on 7600 block of North Bosworth Avenue.
As Thomas pulled up, he got out of the car and walked towards the police car’s passenger side where a cop was already sitting. The cops asked him to stop but he instead pinned the officers’ leg and ran north on Bosworth.
The other officer ran behind Timothy to catch him while the other officer ran back to the squad car to cut him off in the alley. Thomas continued to run west and as he went through a window of a home in 7600 block of North Bosworth Avenue, he fired a shot on the officer following him. Thomas fell on the sidewalk tossing his weapon on the street.
The police reported that no shots were fired from their end. After the incident, the A.40 caliber handgun was found in the 1500 block of West Jonquil Terrace with a shell casing on the opposite sidewalk. The incident was also captured on a security camera nearby.
