Charles Addams, an American cartoonist, conceived the characters that would become known as “The Addams Family.” When first introduced in 1938, they were part of a series of 150 unrelated single-panel drawings, of which roughly half had their first publication in The New Yorker over the course of a half-century. They have now been adapted for use in a wide variety of various mediums, including on-screen, in video games, in comic books, in a musical, and in a wide range of commerce.
The Addams family is a sarcastic inversion of the ideal 20th-century American family; they are a strange, affluent aristocratic clan that takes pleasure in the macabre and doesn’t seem to care whether other people find them strange or scary. Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, extended family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama, their butler Lurch, and Pugsley’s pet octopus, Aristotle, make up the Addams Family in the 1964 television series.

Addams Family From Tim Burton’s Wednesday
Oh, my heart’s dearest lover! On Wednesday, Netflix released the first image of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán in their new series, The Addams Family. Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, will be accompanied by her brother Pugsley, played by Isaac Ordonez. Vanity Fair published the world’s first glance at the macabre Addams family.
Comedy horror sitcom created by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. Filmmaker Tim Burton will direct four episodes and serve as executive producer (Smallville). This will be his debut on the small screen. The series will follow Wednesday as she deals with life at Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for misfits, and is billed as a “sleuthing, supernaturally laced mystery.”
Synopsis: “while managing her new and highly complex relationships at Nevermore,” the youngster “attempts to manage her burgeoning psychic ability, halt a terrible killing spree that has scared the surrounding village,” and “answer the supernatural mystery that ensnared her parents 25 years before.”
“We’ve never seen her as a teenage girl,” Ortega previously told EW of the popular character. “The eight-year-fixation old’s on murder, gore, and cuteness are hilarious and endearing. It’s getting harder and harder to distinguish her from every other teenage girl thanks to her harsh attitude and stinging remarks. Never before have I been cast as such a recognized figure. I don’t want to do anything to hurt her reputation or popularity.”
According to Gough’s VF interview, Burton preferred “Gomez shorter than Morticia” from the Charles Addams drawings to “the kind of sophisticated Raul Julia version in the movies.” In addition to the “traditional ingredients of the Gomez that we’ve seen come before,” Millar said of Guzmán, “He’s also tremendously debonair and romantic, and I think he has all that.”
That it didn’t feel like a remake or reboot was crucial to the program, Millar said. “Something that exists inside the overlap of what came before, but stands apart as its own entity. No attempts were made to mimic the movies or the television series from the 1960s. That was crucial for us, and it was crucial for Tim.” Gough and Millar have been mum on who will play Uncle Fester, the most conspicuous individual missing from the family portrait, and other specifics about the character. Gough told VF, “We have no comment on Uncle Fester.” You should just watch the show, okay?
