A man was taken into custody after police looked into a shooting that killed someone early Saturday morning on the 1500 block of Bell Road.
Caleb Harney, who is 22 years old and from Murfreesboro, is charged with criminal homicide after a shooting that police say was caused by road rage.
Police say that Harney was driving a Nissan Altima on Bell Road toward Hickory Hollow when he got into a fight with a Chevrolet Camaro. This happened just before 9:30 a.m. The victim was in the Chevy as a passenger.
Must Check-
It is said that the Camaro passed the Altima, and Harney began to follow the Camaro. The driver of that car hit the brakes hard, which caused the Altima to crash into the back of the Camaro. The driver took off quickly, and Harney kept going after him or her. Later, near Brookview Estates Drive, the Camaro hit another car and went off the road. Harney also went off the road.
Harney told the police that the victim got out of the Camaro and started shouting and swearing. Harney said that when he got out of the Altima, the victim grabbed him around the waist as if he was going to throw him to the ground. Harney said that he then took a gun out of his pants, shot the man, and killed him. Before the police arrived, Harney hid the gun in a nearby field. After the police arrived, detectives found the gun.
Saturday, just before 12:30 p.m., Metro Police sent out a tweet about the shooting.
Harney is in jail and his bond is set at $100,000.
