Here we are talking about Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Release Date and other information. An upcoming superhero movie in the United States called Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom is based on the DC Comics character Aquaman. It is supposed to follow Aquaman (2018), the 15th movie in the DC Extended Universe. DC Studios, the Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions make it.
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute it (DCEU). Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman opposite Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman in the James Wan-directed picture with a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
When the first Aquaman movie was being made, Momoa offered a plot for a follow-up. Wan agreed to supervise development in January 2019 despite not wanting to expedite a sequel. A month later, Johnson-McGoldrick decided to pen the script, and Wan was announced as the film’s director beginning in August 2020. In June 2021, he revealed the sequel’s title and promised it would expand on Aquaman’s worldbuilding. Filming took place in the UK, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and New Jersey from the end of the month to the beginning of January 2022.

Production Of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom
Development
Jason Momoa, the star of Aquaman (2018), created a story concept for a follow-up and presented it to producer Peter Safran and chairman Toby Emmerich of the Warner Bros. Pictures Group. Momoa stated he would be more involved in creating a future sequel in October 2018, before the movie’s release, and he anticipated filming starting in 2019.
According to director James Wan, seven undersea kingdoms were introduced in the film Aquaman, and various storylines might develop from that. By the beginning of December, Emmerich felt confident enough in the movie’s box office forecasts to start talking about a sequel. Warner Bros. was in talks with Wan to supervise the creation and writing of a sequel with the possibility that he might also serve as director by the time Aquaman opened at the end of January and was on track to become the highest-grossing DC Comics character-based movie ever.
According to Geoff Boucher of Deadline Hollywood, Wan was “very committed” to the worldbuilding of Aquaman and had been highly protective of the sequels of his previous movies, Insidious (2010) and The Conjuring (2013). Wan had previously contrasted the Aquaman universe with other made-up settings, including Middle-earth, Star Wars, and the Wizarding World.
Warner Bros. engaged Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald in early February 2019 to create the story for the Aquaman spin-off movie The Trench, which is based on one of the kingdoms mentioned in the original film. With Wan and Safran producing, it was anticipated to have a cheaper budget and omit the Aquaman movie’s key actors. The studio, Wan, and Momoa had not yet held serious discussions about a direct sequel to Aquaman because they wanted to take a “breather” first, according to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter.
However, a few days later, Kit reported that active development on a sequel had begun with the signing of the first film’s co-writer and frequent Wan collaborator David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to pen the screenplay. The sequel was being produced by Wan and Safran, though it was not yet known if Wan would be the director. Warner Bros. set the release date for Aquaman 2 on December 16, 2022, at the end of February. The sequel’s release was nominated for four years after the original movie because Safran and Wan did not want to rush it, and Warner Bros. had been supportive of it, according to Safran’s explanation the following month.
The Aquaman series, he continued, was being approached similarly to the Conjuring Universe, with spin-offs like The Trench exploring tales of the undersea kingdoms alongside the Aquaman “mothership” movies. According to Safran, Wan was familiar with “the architecture, the armoury, the military, the aesthetic, the feel, and the general vibe” of all seven kingdoms and desired to explore them in upcoming works.
Filming of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom
On June 28, 2021, the film’s principal photography in London under the working title Necrus began. The first movie’s cinematographer, Don Burgess, returned. Wan claimed in August that the follow-up was greatly motivated by the movie Planet of the Vampires (1965). Early in September, Saunton Sands beach in Devon was the location for filming.
Later that month, it was announced that Asbaek had been cast, along with Randall Park’s return from the first movie as Dr Stephen Shin, Vincent Regan’s casting as the ancient king Atlan (instead of Graham McTavish, who appeared in the first movie only briefly as the character), Jani Zhao’s first English-language feature role as Stingray, and Indya Moore’s casting as Karshon in the sequel.
The majority of the movie was filmed in the UK. However, the production relocated to Hawaii for on-location shooting until December 9. The same year, there was also filming in Jersey City, New Jersey. Shortly after that, it was announced that Nicole Kidman had returned to the role of Atlanna, mthe other of Aquaman. After moving to Los Angeles, filming was finished in Malibu on January 12, 2022.
Marketing: Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom
In a panel discussion at the virtual DC FanDome event in August 2020, Wan and Wilson gave hints about the movie’s plot. Concept art and filming behind-the-scenes footage were unveiled at DC FanDome 2021, a year later. Tatman, Black Adam, and The Flash were among the other DC movies on Warner Bros.’s 2022 release slate, featuring the first footage from the film in February 2022.
(before Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash were delayed to 2023 in the following month). At the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation in April 2022, Wan promoted the movie while precording Momoa’s message and showcasing some small clips. He shared other concept art when the movie’s release date was postponed in August.
