American socialite and TV host Tinsley Randolph Mortimer (née Mercer; born August 11, 1975) was born on August 11, 1975. High Society and The Real Housewives of New York City featured her as a cast member, establishing her as a household name.
Mortimer was initially named Tinsley Randolph Mercer, born in Richmond, Virginia. Her parents, real estate mogul George Riley Mercer Jr. and socialite Dale Tatum Mercer, gave her a privileged upbringing. Dabney Winston Mercer is her little sister.
Her grandfather’s business, Mercer Rug Cleaning, was started in 1936 by her great-grandfather, George Riley Mercer Sr. Mortimer comes from several different Virginia First Families. She spent most of her childhood at Graymont, the Richmond mansion her family-owned.
Mortimer went to the all-girls Episcopal St. Catherine’s School in Richmond before transferring to the all-girls residential school in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where she lived in the Kirby House. During the Bal du Bois at the Country Club of Virginia, Mortimer was introduced to Richmond society as a debutante.

The relationship between Tinsley and Scott ended for the first time in October of 2017. She developed feelings for him and was left devastated when they parted. During this period, Tinsley and Scott remained in communication, but Scott could not fully commit to the relationship with Tinsley. Scott has been teasing Tinsley’s feelings since they met four years ago. The couple’s frequent separation and reconciliation history undermined their efforts to form a lasting partnership. Fans of RHONY hope that Tinsley will return to the show now that she and Tom are no longer together.
