Here we are talking about Arlington Heights Train Accident, in the wake of a person being hit by a Metra UP-NW train close to the suburb of Arlington Heights, officials warned Wednesday that delays are to be expected and that certain inbound and outbound Metra trains were stopped.

Just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday near Walnut Crossing, the Metra UP-NW train number 603 struck and killed a female pedestrian, according to the authorities.

Both inbound and outbound trains were stopped on Wednesday morning, but some are now running again with limited service and “severe delays” expected, according to Tweets from Metra.

Metra Alert UP-NW – Inbound and outbound train movement halted Past Des Plains, pedestrian struck by train #603 – Extensive delays are anticipated. There is very limited service between Des Plaines and Chicago.

The Arlington Heights Police Department reports that Ridge Avenue is still closed between Campbell and Eastman Streets. The coroner, the fire department, paramedics, railroad supervisors, and representatives of the municipal and/or Metra police departments all appear on the scene to carry out their respective tasks, according to Metra from Twitter.

“Depending on the distance each individual must walk and the time of day, this alone may take some time. It can take longer for those officials to arrive if there is heavy traffic or if there is restricted access to the venue.”

Metra’s UP-NW line stops in Crystal Lake, Barrington, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, and other Northwest suburbs on its way to and from Chicago and Harvard.
