A backpack was discovered at the hospital within the medical facility at 50 N. Medical Drive in Salt Lake City, according to a release from SLCPD on Tuesday night.
The pack was “alerted” by a bomb-sniffing dog, which meant there might be a danger. To look into the matter, a police hazard device team was contacted.
At about 6:45 p.m., x-ray technology found no threat after an inquiry began at about 4:10 p.m.

A suspected bomb threat was made to the University of Utah hospital on Tuesday afternoon, and Salt Lake City Police responded.
At approximately 3:12 p.m., the U of U Health tweeted that they were collaborating with law enforcement and the Salt Lake Bomb squad on a suspected bomb threat.

According to the University of Utah’s campus alert website, the Public Safety Department was informed that a backpack had been left in the lobby on the first level.
According to the hospital, Salt Lake City Police were contacted when a bomb-sniffing canine detected suspected explosives on the luggage.
The University of Utah tweeted, “We are continuing to protect the affected area, and we are prioritising the safety of our team members and patients.”
We can confirm the item in question does not pose any threat and the hospital and our community is safe.

The public is asked to stay away from the area because 100 South and Mario Capecchi lead to the front of the hospital.
According to a tweet from SLCPD, the public is not in danger, and University of Utah operations are unaffected.
