Avatar 2 Release Date is Confirmed Film is Coming in December Trailer Out!

The official name of Avatar 2 is now “The Way of Water,” and we have our first look at the long-awaited sequel. On April 27, 2022, the teaser trailer was shown for the first time at CinemaCon, where the title was also announced. On May 9, 2022, it was posted online.

Steve Asbell, the President of 20th Century Studios, said in March 2022 that the sequel is “going to blow people away.” He also said, “You’re not ready for what Jim Cameron is doing.”

Cameron told people at CinemaCon that he was “working hard to finish the film.” He’s said before that the fact that most of the movie takes place underwater is one of the reasons why it’s taken so long to come out. “It sounds kind of nuts, the process,” Cameron admitted to EW about his plan for the sequel. “I mean, if Avatar hadn’t made so much damn money, we’d never do this — because it’s kind of crazy.”

Cameron, who has made two of the top three highest-grossing movies of all time, might be able to pull it off, though (Avatar and Titanic). Some people may wonder if anyone wants Avatar 2 right now, but you should never bet against the director. Zoe Saldaa, a returning star, has been hinting that the wait will be worth it because she had a strong reaction to just 20 minutes of footage.

“I can get choked up just talking about it because I was able to see just 20 minutes of the second installment right before the year ended last year, and I was speechless. I was moved to tears,” she enthused. “I think you really have to brace yourself for it, but it’s going to be an adventure that you will not forget.”

Avatar 2 Plotline: What We Can Expect From It?

Along with the title, we got the first official synopsis of the sequel, but it didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know: “Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet,” it reads.

The story takes place about 14 years after the events of Avatar. Sully is now chief and Neytiri is the high priestess of their clan, but the story will mostly be about their family and children. “I think the story of Avatar 2, and the strength of the story, is what Jim [Cameron] always does in any of his movies: he writes in universal themes that are bigger than any one genre,” producer Jon Landau explained.

“And if you think about this, there’s really no more universal theme than family. At the centre of each of our sequels is the Sully family. What are the dynamics that parents go through to protect their family?” We also know that even though there will be three more movies after this one, each will have its own story. According to Landau, “the journey through all four movies will create a connected saga.”

The RDA mining operation will return to Pandora, which will force Jake to bring his family to the reef, where they meet the Metkayina, which they think is a safe place. We’ve heard that they’ll also go beyond Pandora’s forests and into underwater and volcanic places that Cameron says will make you “spit yourself with your mouth wide open.” We think that should be a good thing…

The motion-capture scenes for Avatar 2 were filmed underwater so that they could show how important water is. We also know that Baby Driver’s CJ Jones, a deaf actor who was hired to create a “new Na’vi sign language,” made up a sign language just for the movie.

Cameron says that the movies will look so advanced that you “just won’t be able to imagine” what they will look like. We hope that the look will be enough to get fans to go see the second movie.

“Big, expensive films have got to make a lot of money. We’re in a new world post-COVID, post-streaming. Maybe those [box office] numbers will never be seen again. Who knows? It’s all a big roll of the dice,” admitted Cameron to EW.

At CinemaCon, he talked up how great the movie would be on a big screen. Cameron teased, “We’re pushing the boundaries even further with a high frame rate, higher resolution 3D, and more realistic visual effects.”

“I wanted our return to Pandora to be something really special. Every shot is designed for the biggest screen, highest resolution, and most immersive 3D available. I think we pulled it off.”

Avatar 2 Release Date is Out Finally

To make a long story short, Avatar 2 will finally come out on December 16, 2022. It was supposed to come out in December 2021, but the global health crisis pushed it back. The filming for the sequel started in 2017, which isn’t too surprising since the movie is a mix of live-action and motion capture. Cameron said in September 2020 that Avatar 2 was “100 percent done” and that Avatar 3 was about 95 percent done.

As was said above, Cameron said in April 2022 that he is “putting the finishing touches” on the sequel, so everything seems to be on track for the December release. FINALLY.

Since Cameron has three more movies coming out, he has been working on all of them over the past few years. Due to the young cast, he said in December 2021 that he had already filmed some of Avatar 4. “Anything that had to be done with a specific actor, we did all the scenes for 2 and 3 together – and a little bit of 4,” he told Variety.

“I had to shoot the kids out. They’re allowed to age six years in the middle of the story on page 25 of movie 4. So I needed everything before then, and then everything after, we’ll do later.”
