Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks have announced Starfield, an upcoming action role-playing video game. During Bethesda’s E3 Press Conference in 2018, the game was publicly announced. The game will be Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in nearly twenty-five years, and it will be set in a space-themed environment. The game will be launched on Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S in the first half of 2023.
Starfield is located in The Settled Systems, a region that stretches outward from the Solar System for around 50 light-years. Around the year 2310, the game’s two most powerful factions, the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective fought a struggle known as the Colony War. The game is set 20 years after the conflict when the major groups have reached an uneasy truce. The user takes control of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, a space exploration organization. The game can be played in first-person or third-person mode.

The final seat at today’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase went to Starfield, and it did not disappoint. During the event, a 15-minute “Official Gameplay Reveal” trailer for Starfield premiered, showcasing a tonne of in-game content. Fans couldn’t help but compare the space exploration and resource harvesting to No Man’s Sky, but Bethesda has raised our expectations.
More importantly, the developers followed up on the trailer by answering questions regarding the adventure and role-playing parts of the interplanetary RPG. If you missed it, you can watch Starfield’s Official Gameplay Reveal trailer below. All of Starfield’s dev notes and important gameplay feature reveals from the event are included here.
Major Takeaways From Starfields Gameplay Reveal
Todd Howard stated that Starfield will have 100 different star systems and over 1,000 fully constructed and explorable planets in terms of space exploration. All of this and more can be found in your own personal spaceship. Which can be completely customized from the ground up. You can also hire NPCs to assist you in commanding your ship. You’ll want to think about this carefully because cosmic spaceship warfare has been verified, and it appears to be nothing short of epic.
The planets you’ll visit on your ship are much more interesting. Outposts, bases, settlements, and cities – practically the entire charade across the planets that form up the interplanetary map – were shown in the trailer. Each planet looks to have its own set of mysteries and adventures, which we eagerly anticipate learning about.

It also featured New Atlantis, one of the key sites. In-game base-building, on the other hand, allows you to customize an outpost on any planet for farming, resource gathering, or survival. You can even hire NPCs to help you maintain your holiday house while you’re out exploring the universe.
In both third and first-person, the gameplay trailer showed some fantastic gunplay against NPCs and other otherworldly beasts. Of course, the gameplay reveal would be incomplete without introducing the RPG elements of factions, crafting, customizable perks, and a character-shaping skill tree. This is in addition to Bethesda’s most thorough character customization yet, according to Howard.
