On Wednesday morning, a pickup truck that had lost control of its vehicle and collided head-on with a semi on Blewett Pass resulting in the death of one person and the injury of three others.

The collision on Highway 97 forced the closure of both lanes for approximately six hours.

Trooper Jeremy Weber of the Washington State Patrol stated that the full-sized GMC pickup was traveling southbound on the icy roadway around 9:15 a.m., approximately 13 miles north of the summit, when the pickup apparently slid on the icy roadway and crossed into the northbound lane, causing it to collide with the semi.
