The introduction of Brandi Carlile’s thrilling performance of her hit song “Broken Horses” by the singer’s wife and children was one of the nicest moments of the 2023 Grammy Awards. Carlile was introduced on stage at the Grammy Awards by his wife of 12 years, Catherine Carlile, and his two daughters, Evangeline, 8, and Elijah, 4. At the next performance, Catherine proudly introduced her wife while standing between their two daughters.
The next performer, Brandi Carlile, “fell in love with millions of viewers watching tonight four years ago when she took the Grammys stage for the first time and delivered one of the most iconic performances in Grammy history,” Catherine said, referring to the singer-“The songwriter’s Joke” live performance that drew in new audiences. She remarked cheekily, “I was much ahead of you because I was fortunate enough to marry her more than ten years ago.
As she introduced one of the best, most genuine performers and people on the globe, Carlile’s wife stated to the audience, “It means the world to me to stand here tonight with our beautiful daughters by my side.” As their daughters leaned in and shouted their mother’s name into the microphone, she continued, “Here to rock our faces off with ‘Broken Horses’ from the Grammy-nominated album In These Silent Days, my wife and their momma, Brandi Carlile.”

In 2009, while Shepherd was employed by Paul McCartney, a member of the Beatles, the Grammy-winning artist and social crusader spoke over the phone with her future spouse. After actually meeting in person in 2010, the couple was married in three different wedding ceremonies two years later. The couple had kids Evangeline Ruth and Elijah in addition to walking red carpets and attending charity events together.

Carlile and Shepherd’s romance is still going strong more than 12 years later. In 2021, Carlile admitted to Howard Stern, “She’s my best friend.” Absolute best friend, arch-rival, and the person I like spending the most time with. We frequently debate into the wee hours of the night. Evangeline Ruth Carlile and Shepherd had their first child, a girl, on June 15, 2014. Kid, welcome to the world! When announcing her birth, Carlile posted a message on Instagram.
Carlile’s eggs were taken for Shepherd to carry during the couple’s IVF procedures to conceive. Later, Carlile admitted to PEOPLE that while she first battled with not being the one to carry Evangeline, she finally accepted her position. Through my experience, I want people to understand that there is no right or wrong way to transition into parenthood in heterosexual or same-sex couples, she added.
On March 18, 2018, Carlile and Shepherd welcomed their daughter Elijah. “But I’ll go back and see all the wonders I’ve already seen. I am Elijah’s mother “Along with a picture of herself holding a baby Elijah, Carlile stated on Instagram. The couple had IUI treatment for their second pregnancy, as opposed to their first.

Shepherd has some vocal prowess, even if Carlile is perhaps the more well-known of the two. In addition to a video of the couple singing her song “You and Me on the Rock,” Carlile wrote a heartfelt ode to her wife. “Above all, Catherine Carlile is a musician, singer, and songwriter. However, during the past 12 years, she has also managed our careers, runs a charity, and tamed our wild daughters while touring the world. We’ve been living in a bloody pinball machine, or as Catherine would say.”
Additionally, she said “Making her sing more is my life’s work. So I managed to convince her to join me when I performed “You and Me on the Rock” live for IMAX audiences across North America. It turned out I was more anxious than she was! The opportunity to perform a song with the person it was written for is the greatest gift in life.” On Sunday night, CBS and Paramount+ will broadcast the 2023 Grammy Awards live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
