According to a statement from BTS’ label, Big Hit Music, a new criminal complaint has been filed against an unidentified person who is accused of spreading “ill-intentioned rumors” and “malicious words” against the group on various platforms. The person’s name and the specifics of the remarks made against BTS are not currently known. Rolling Stone’s request for comment from Big Hits did not immediately receive a response.

The statement was published to Reverse and stated, “We have discovered several defamation postings containing incorrect information about the musicians on platforms in and outside of Korea.” After compiling all of the repetitively uploaded postings, “we also identified that a specific user has been spreading the same malicious rumor on different platforms and filed a criminal complaint against the poster.”

The label stated that with the aid of the ARMY and their own monitoring techniques, they were able to identify the online troll.

“We are now pursuing our legal response procedure, which involves keeping an eye on and gathering proof of malicious postings for a full year before adding them to the complaint. Our monitoring efforts for harmful postings have benefited greatly from the proactive reporting of our fans.

According to the label, BTS has frequently been the target of “malicious activities,” such as “defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the transmission of untrue information, and malicious criticism.” The business added that when it came to pursuing legal action, its attitude was “no settlement and no compassion.”

The band has a stronger bond with its label than most other musicians. BTS and Big Hits agreed to a seven-year arrangement in 2018, after which BTS bought a financial stake in the company. BTS member RM previously told Rolling Stone that “it’s incredibly meaningful for us and also the organization, that we accept and recognize each other as true partners.” The success of Big Hit is now also our success, and vice versa.
