According to Fernanda Lustosa, who spoke with NBC Bay Area, she was outside with her dog when she heard a rumbling sound coming from the direction of the railway station. After that, she went back to her house, walked to the front of the property, and started recording the video of the crash. According to Caltrain, the driver went onto the tracks when his vehicle was hit, and he passed away at the scene of the accident. Nobody on board the train were wounded in the accident.

Jose Torres reported that there had been previous collisions of a similar nature at that location, despite the fact that an official reason has not been identified. These lights present a significant threat. Sometimes they are successful, and other times they are not.

He explained that around three or four months ago, they were fixing the lights, and then about a week later, the same problem occurred. According to Caltrain, there have been seven collisions at the Burlingame Broadway crossing during the course of the past five years. Two of those were fatal in nature.
