Earlier in the week, Victor finally spoke out about his son’s death on Twitter, writing, ‘I’m overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received. It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can’t wake up from. I can’t thank you guys enough.’
A piece on Michelle Obama’s praise for Cameron was retweeted by him as well. Dove Cameron, a close friend and co-star of Cameron, spoke up about her brother’s tragic loss and was overcome with emotion as she spoke.
The actress, who plays Mal in Descendants opposite Cameron’s Carlos, said: ‘I’m going to try and write to Victor and Libby and Maya. You are all I can think about. My heart aches for you. I’m broken for you. I have close to nothing left, which tells me a small percentage of how you must be feeling. I am so sorry and I will never have enough words for the pain I feel and the love and space in my heart that I hold for you.’

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that Cameron was one of my favorite people in the world. Cameron was enchanted as a true angel on Earth. Cameron has been there for me for the past six years, ever since he was just 14 years old, and I was struggling with an eating disorder, a toxic relationship, and innumerable breakdowns.
When I was too nervous to dance on live TV, he’d calmly instruct me and then take my hand so we could both know we were on the same page. The number of times we’ve messed up because we couldn’t stop laughing at each other is too high to count. In addition to his work with Adam Sandler in Grown Ups, Cameron was recognized for his parts in the Disney Channel comedy Jessie.
