In a west suburban collision involving a school bus on Monday afternoon, two persons were murdered and two others were injured, according to police. According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, a Lexus and a school bus were engaged in a collision that occurred near Campton Hills on Empire Road between Burlington Road and Route 47.
According to representatives of Kane County, a 2013 Lexus SUV was driving east on Empire Road when it collided with the rear of a school bus carrying 31 pupils and a driver at the time. A Central Community Unit School District 301 bus from Lilly Lake Elementary School was transporting pupils. Four persons were reportedly in the Lexus at the time of the collision, according to the police.

The 18-year-old driver from Elgin was taken with non-life-threatening wounds to Delnor Hospital. Both the 19-year-old guy and the 20-year-old Campton Hills resident who were passengers in the rear seat of the vehicle were declared dead at the spot. According to authorities, a 17-year-old South Elgin woman in the back seat was brought to Delnor Hospital before being flown by helicopter to Lurie Children’s Hospital with critical injuries.
Neither the bus driver nor any of the students on board were hurt. County officials reported that all students were reunited with their families and released right away. No tickets have been issued as of yet because the investigation is still underway. The names of everyone who was hurt or killed have not yet been made public.
