Christine McVie Obituary: An English musician and vocalist, Christine Anne McVie (Perfect; 12 July 1943–30 November 2022). She became famous as a singer and keyboardist for the band Fleetwood Mac, which she joined in 1970. She’s also done solo work, releasing three albums under her own name. Her songs were about romantic connections. She is “unapologetically easy-on-the-ears” and “the prime mover behind some of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest successes,” as Steve Leggett of AllMusic put it. On Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits CD from 1988, she had eight songs included, including “Don’t Stop,” “Everywhere,” and “Little Lies.”
McVie got the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac in 1998. She decided to leave the band that same year after nearly 30 years, and she spent the next 15 years in a state of semi-retirement. In 2004, she dropped a lone studio album. She first performed with Fleetwood Mac at London’s O2 Arena in September 2013, and she later re-joined the group in 2014, just before their On with the Show tour.
