The fifth season of Cobra Kai has been completed, but no release date has been announced. Season 4 only just arrived, appearing on Netflix in December 2021, which means the new episodes could still be a way off yet – but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to know about the upcoming season in the meantime.
While we wait for the new season to premiere, we’ve gathered all the information we could find about it. We’ve done our best to guess when season 5 will appear on Netflix, as well as when we could finally get a trailer.
That’s not all – we’ve also got information on who’s in the cast, what’s coming up after the new season, and exclusive remarks from co-creators Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz regarding season 5.
Cobra Kai Season 5 Plot
It’s still too early to tell exactly what might happen during the next season of Cobra Kai – but we can make a few assumptions based on what went down in season 4. According to co-showrunners Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz, the biggest game-changer is the return of Chozen Toguchi from Karate Kid II at the end of season four.
“Chozen is somebody who relates to the more violent past where fighting wasn’t about a contest, it was about life and death. He still feels like he owes Daniel some help, and he wants to make amends even if Daniel has forgiven him,” they told TVLine.
“From that alone, I feel like people can assume the intensity with which season 5 is going to begin. There are quite a several narratives that start spinning extremely fast and very aggressively as we enter next season.
The season 4 finale certainly makes things exciting going forward: the episode also featured Terry Silver double-crossing Kreese, resulting in the latter’s prison – and it appears like Silver could pose the largest threat from this point ahead.
The fate of Miyagi-Do is in a tough situation coming into the new run – no longer an operating dojo as a result of the bet made over the All-Valley tournament. Tory’s knowledge of Silver’s bribery could potentially save the Dojo’s future, allowing her to help.
There’s also Miguel, who ran to Mexico in search of his father – and Johnny will likely be occupied in season 5 trying to find him. According to Executive Producer Hayden Schlossberg, “Cobra Kai Season five answers the long asked question– what would have happened had Daniel lost at the end of Karate Kid Part three?” Beware, Nerds of the Valley.”

Cobra Kai Season 4 released teasers in the run to the new episodes’ premiere on Netflix, given a full trailer just under a month before the release date. The first teaser, which confirmed Terry Silver’s return, premiered in May 2021 – 7 months before season 4.
Based on that history, we should expect some teasers well in advance of the next series, so hopefully in the coming months. Until then, we’ll have to wait for a long time before we get a proper trailer, and, likely, it won’t be until we’re close to the new season.
