It was early on Tuesday morning when a crash involving three cars, including two tractor-trailers, occurred on the Cross Bronx Expressway. According to the police, a woman was killed when flames enveloped her vehicle after the crash.
The tragic accident that occurred last night is causing traffic backups on the highway this morning in both directions.
It was approximately 12:35 in the morning on Tuesday when the woman’s vehicle is said to have rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the westbound Cross Bronx near the Major Deegan Expressway, according to the investigators.
According to the police, when the woman had come to a stop, her vehicle was rear-ended by another tractor-trailer, which caused the fire to spread throughout the entire vehicle.

The fire, according to the authorities, then spread to the first tractor-trailer that was there.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident by the EMS personnel.
Both truck drivers had relatively minor injuries but are expected to be fine after the accident.
At two in the morning, according to the FDNY, the fire was brought under control by the fire department.
Because of the accident, traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway was stopped in both directions for a number of hours.
