The fatal occurrence occurred just after New York defeated the home club, 24-20. On Monday morning, The Post reported that the office of the Allegheny County medical examiner had confirmed Keane’s identity.
The victim, according to the police, was a resident of Monaca, Pennsylvania, a small town in Beaver County about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The police report that Keane was taken to a local hospital in serious condition after emergency services rushed to the scene.
The medical examiner stated that 25 minutes after he collapsed, at 5:10 p.m., he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Steelers and Jets were down to their final seconds of the game when the Steelers had an interception on a Hail Mary attempt.
