The first trailer for Moonage Daydream, a film about late musician David Bowie, has been published by director Brett Morgen. This announcement comes just hours before the documentary’s scheduled to premiere in the Midnight Screenings section of the Cannes Film Festival.
The feature-length film dubbed a “cinematic voyage” and an “immersive experience,” tells the story of Bowie’s artistic and spiritual journey via never-before-seen video, performances, interviews, and music. It is the first documentary to be approved by David Bowie’s estate.
Oscar-nominated Moonage Daydream was written, directed, produced, and edited by Morgen. He’s been working on the project for five years, after being granted access to the British rock star’s personal archives, which include all of his master recordings as well as 35mm and 16mm videos of his stage performances, in 2017.
