Demi Lovato Reveal She Had Eating Disorder
Demi Lovato posted on Instagram this week to remind people that getting better from an eating disorder isn’t always a quick or straight-lined process. And for some people, like her, it’s a long, winding road trip that never ends.

Lovato posted a video of a hand-painted ceramic mug with the words “I am worth it” and the logo for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Lovato, who is recovering from bulimia, sees the personal item as a reminder of how long the healing process will take and how important it is to stick with it.
Lovato wrote in the caption, “This is the @neda symbol for getting better from an eating disorder.” “I painted this years ago on @colormemine… Even though I had an eating disorder at the time, I still made this in the hopes that one day I would really believe it.
The singer has talked in the past about her struggles with dieting, food shaming, and body image during her years-long recovery. Now, she says, she has good days and bad days. “I still struggle. Daily. I sometimes forget about how hard it is to get enough food, and other times it’s all I can think about. Still,” Lovato wrote. “But that’s how some people get better from ED, and I still have hope that I won’t think about it anymore one day. It’s normal to feel like you haven’t made any progress or that you’ve gone backwards while you’re still in recovery. “Slips, backslides, and relapses are more often the rule than the exception,” says NEDA. This is especially true during times of stress. “It’s important to move forward, no matter how slowly.”
