Devil in the White City is being turned into a TV show, and big names like Keanu Reeves, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Martin Scorsese are involved. A project based on Erik Larson’s best-selling nonfiction book The Devil in the White City has been in the works for a long time. In 2010, DiCaprio bought the rights to the book so that he could star in and Scorsese could direct the movie. Even though those plans never happened, both of them, along with Reeves, is now executive producers for this TV version.

The Book “The Devil in the White City” tells two stories that run in parallel about men who were influential figures at the Chicago World’s Fair in the year 1893. The first person to be mentioned is Daniel H. Burnham, an architect who was the primary force behind the planning of the World’s Fair. This event was notable for being the first time the lightbulb and the Ferris wheel were exhibited to the public. The other is Dr. H. H. Holmes, who is widely recognized as the first modern serial killer to operate in the United States.

Devil in the White City Plot

The book’s official Plot says, “One was an architect. The other was a serial killer. This is the amazing story of how these two men made the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and its amazing “White City,” one of the seven wonders of the world, come to life. “The architect was Daniel H. Burnham, who was the driving force behind the White City, a huge, dreamy landscape of white buildings set in a wonderland of canals and gardens.

“The killer was a Good looking doctor named H. H. Holmes with beautiful blue eyes. He lured many young women to their deaths by using the allure of the big fair and his own devilish charms. “While Burnham overcame politics, factionalism, personality clashes, and Chicago’s enigmatic weather to transform the swamps of Jackson Park into the greatest show on Earth, Holmes constructed his own structure just west of the park. He called it the Hotel of the World’s Fair.

“In reality, it was a palace for torturing people, a place to burn people, and a gas chamber.” This exciting murder mystery about the legendary Fair that changed America and set it on its course for the 20th century brings these two different but driven men to life.

The Devil in the White City Star Cast

As of right now, there isn’t much information about the cast of the show, except for the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is playing serial killer H. H. Holmes. The series would be a great way for DiCaprio to get back to his early days of acting on the big screen. He started his career at a very young age, starring in shows like “The New Lassie,” “Parenthood,” and “Growing Pains.” As you might guess, his TV career as a child was very different from his career as an adult.

Holmes, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, was based on a real person who lived in Chicago during the 1893 World’s Fair and ran a building that became known as the “Murder Castle.” It was a hotel for potential murder victims who needed a place to stay during the fair. He once admitted to killing 27 people, but some people think he may have killed as many as 200 during his time in Chicago.

Devil in the White City Release Date

Hulu has not yet given an exact release date, but it has revealed that 2024 is a possibility. The miniseries is scheduled to begin production in 2023. Devil in the White City is likely to begin filming after John Wick 4 is completed, as the fifth installment is currently in pre-production, and filming on the fourth installment has been confirmed.
