Jenna Ortega has shared the spooky thing that she did in order to get into character as Wednesday Addams for the original Netflix production, and it seems as though she should use some eye drops as soon as possible.
In a recent interview, the young actress, who is now 20 years old, discussed how she prepared to play the legendary daughter from The Addams Family in the spin-off film directed by Tim Burton. She plays the title role of Wednesday in the film Wednesday, a character who is attending Nevermore Academy at the same time as she is seeking to solve the mystery surrounding a historical mass murder.
Jenna described in an interview with Teen Vogue how she spent several weeks on set trying not to blink because director Tim Burton believed that it helped her get into the frightening persona she was playing.
The actor recalled that at some point during the first couple weeks of shooting, he performed a take in which he did not blink at all. “At some point during the first couple weeks of shooting,” the actor said. “And Tim Burton told me, ‘I don’t want you to blink anymore.'” “And Tim Burton said.”

Jenna revealed that she was influenced by Jack Nicholson’s legendary performance in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, which was released in the 1980s. Kubrick was the film’s director. “The problem with the blinking is that I wasn’t even aware that I was doing it,” you said. It just so happened that way because before every take I would reposition my face in preparation for the camera.
“I would relax all of the muscles in my face, and Tim liked the Kubrick stare very much, which is when I stare through my eyebrows.” It can be a little overwhelming at times.”
She then went on to explain that she saw aspects of herself in the character, saying, “I was always compared to Wednesday because I’m extremely dry, and I don’t think people can distinguish when I’m being serious or when I’m being sarcastic.”
