In San Francisco, she was employed for an advertising agency. For the following ten years, their relationship was on and off. Telling The Boot, Bentley said, “It’s a pretty crazy story of just going back and forth with the right time or the wrong time, or the right place, wrong time, all that stuff.”
Bentley said he often sent love letters to Black women while traveling.
