Yellowstone Season 5: The Yellowstone universe gets bigger, and the show that started it all is no exception. In February 2022, Paramount renewed the show for a fifth season.
The first episode of the drama series, which starred Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley, aired on the Paramount Network in June 2018. Since then, the modern western has become a phenomenon that has led to many spinoffs and been nominated for many awards.
In 2021, the season four finale of Yellowstone was one of the most-watched cable shows. More than 11 million people watched it. Since the 1980s, Costner has been well-known, but Yellowstone has helped him reach a whole new group of people.
“If I’m out, someone will talk about it within an hour,” the Oscar winner told Entertainment Tonight in a March 2022 interview. “You sort of hope that will happen, and it has. I think that’s what happens when great dialogue is set against mountains, rivers, and horses running. I think it has some gold dust on it.”
The Dutton family, who own the biggest ranch in Montana, is the focus of the show. Costner plays John Dutton, the family patriarch. Reilly plays his daughter Bethany, and Bentley plays his son Jamie. Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham, Danny Huston, Cole Hauser, and Kelsey Asbille are also in the group cast.
At the end of season 4, the ranch survived an attack by Jamie’s real father, Garrett Randall, and his militia (Will Patton). Beth married Rip Wheeler (Hauser) after telling a reporter that Market Equities planned to use the National Guard to stop a protest. While that was going on, Jamie killed Garrett, which Beth plans to use against him in the future.
The cast has said they won’t know what’s going to happen until they get the scripts, but Reilly thinks her character is planning revenge in season 5. In a video promoting the show, the actress said, “Beth has decided she can’t rest until she gets justice.” “She is out for blood. It’s kind of a big deal.”
Fans don’t have to wait long for the next episode because there’s a lot of other Yellowstone content to go around. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott starred in the premiere of the prequel series 1883 in December 2021. Taylor Sheridan, who helped make Yellowstone, said in February 2022 that 1883 was meant to be a one-season limited series, but he also said that a sequel called 1923 is in the works.
In 2021, a new spinoff called 6666 was announced. The first episode of that show will be on Paramount+, and it will take place at the real Four Sixes Ranch in Guthrie, Texas. In May 2021, the property was bought for $200 million by a group led by Sheridan. The ranch, which was built in 1900, was used to film parts of season 4.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 1 Recap
The first episode of season 5, called “One Hundred Years Is Nothing,” starts a few months after John Dutton is named as a candidate for Governor of Montana. John gets a lot of positive feedback from some of the people in the city. But the race for the job is tough, and Scott McMullen, who is running against him, is giving him a hard time. Still, Scott calls John as it becomes clear that the Dutton patriarch will become the next Governor of the state. Soon, the news will say that John won 54% of the votes and is now the new Governor. As a result, Montana is moving into a new era in which blatant invasions of the state’s natural landscape and resources will not be tolerated.
Chief Rainwater at the Broken Rock Indian Reservation and Caroline Winters at Market Equities are not very happy about John becoming governor. In a flashback, we see Rip and Beth when they were teenagers. The two went on a date to town, but Rip’s nervousness quickly made Beth angry. Later, Beth started dating another ranch worker to get back at Rip. In the present, Beth says she’s sorry to Rip for what she did in the past. Rip and his wife have moved on from the past and are now living happily together. On Yellowstone Ranch, plans are made to celebrate John’s victory in the election.
Kayce also finds the people who stole horses near the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. He finds the crew, which is led by a Canadian Captain, and finds out that they are trying to sneak horses across the border. John swears in as Governor of Montana in front of everyone in his family except Kayce. John says that he is going to fight for the citizens’ right to be free. John and his team, which is made up of Beth, Jamie, and Perry, are thinking about how to deal with Market Equities.
In the meantime, Monica calls Kayce to tell him that she is having cramps. She thinks that they will have to choose to have the baby early. Kayce is busy dealing with the horse thieves, so she plans to meet Monica at the hospital. On the ranch, John’s victory is celebrated by the people who live there. After the party, John leaves the ranch to become the Governor and start his job. But at the end of the episode, a terrible tragedy strikes the Dutton family.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 1: Does Monica Die In Yellowstone Season 5? What Happens to Monica’s Baby?
At the end of the episode, Monica drives herself and Tate to the hospital because she is pregnant. But her cramps get worse, making it hard for her to drive. Also, the streets are dark and the lights are low, making it hard for Monica to watch the road. When a cow gets in her way, Monica has to work hard to keep the car on the road. At the same time, a truck is coming quickly from the other side of the road. The truck and Monica’s car are about to hit the cow, but Monica pulls the car away just in time, causing the truck and car to crash into each other.

When John hears about the accident, he takes Jamie and Beth to the hospital right away. John finds Tate outside his hospital room. This shows that Tate did survive the car accident. On the other hand, Monica has been seriously hurt and is in a coma. Still, she makes it through the accident and is still alive. But Tate tells people that his brother has died. Monica gave birth to a baby boy named John before she passed out. John died an hour after his birth. In the end, one of the Duttons dies in the accident, and John’s new job as governor doesn’t compare to the sad death of Monica and Kayce’s baby.
