There will be no third season of the Kat Dennings-led comedy on Hulu, TVLine has exclusively confirmed. Season 2, which dropped in February, featured Dennings’ Jules, Stella (Shay Mitchell), Madison (Brenda Song), and Izzy (Esther Povitsky) “post-pandemic, post-heartbreak” and moving toward turning 30.
Jules must now balance keeping her group together while the women negotiate work, love, and a deeper relationship with each other, according to the official synopsis. Comedian, actress, and onetime late-night TV host Lilly Singh joins the Season 2 ensemble in the recurring role of Liv, a queer bar owner with a bold sense of humor, who explores both a relationship and a business endeavor with Stella.

Dollface Season 3 Storyline
Dollface, in its first season, was a show that failed to live up to its intriguing premise. It was always hilarious to watch Jules bumble through ludicrous events like brunch at church and game shows that inquired if she should cancel her plans. But there was always a bit of a disconnect to these bits. It’s impossible to develop a world around a character who has no drive, and it took Jules a while to find hers.
There were additional difficulties. Although the fundamental friendship group was complex, the show itself appeared to have difficulty establishing a balance between its optimistic and pessimistic undertones. Everything has changed for Jules now that she has discovered herself in her friends.
There’s no more “will they, won’t they?” between Jules Madison, and Stella in Season 2. They are now a squad, and in practically every episode it’s ride or dies. Dollface’s sturdy foundation has allowed it to develop and actually challenge its characters in fresh and humorous ways. The font is all the rage this season.
While attempting to balance her profession and personal life, Madison discovers that excessively planning every detail may not be the best strategy. a group of revelers At the same time, she is finding stability in two different places, and Stella can’t manage it. And Izzy, the lady so obedient that she lied about her name for months, finds herself the center of her own story.
These stories enable Song, Mitchell, and Povitsky to show off their comedic abilities, playing in this absurd universe that was formerly entirely reserved for Jules. Madison’s narrative is especially strong, owing to Song’s ability to imbue even the most bizarre situation with a degree of actual sadness. There’s also Jules.
Much as in Season 1, Jules spends a lot of time floating in this odd, half-imagined universe. She has a blank Tarot card and a vision board covered in doodling of penises. However, as the series progresses, the audience’s disinterest begins to diminish. Instead, we get a quiet examination of bravery from Jennings.
Slowly, this young woman becomes brave enough to ask herself what she wants out of life and actually goes for it. This is a narrative that is both satisfying and motivating when it comes to the conclusion of her metamorphosis. But there’s more to this season than character growth and incessant gags.
There are plots that you’ll never see on television sandwiched between these two. That’s precisely what makes this show special. It’s not uncommon for two women who were betrayed by the same man to discuss it openly. They don’t start blaming each other or yelling. Instead, in their suffering, they discover a sister.
Stella’s connection forces her to examine if she’s really ready to have a kid in her life. Over multiple episodes, we have a difficult and convoluted discussion that never comes to a satisfactory end. Then, towards the series finale, Dollface delivers viewers one of the coolest experiences of all: witnessing someone realize their passion.
Little moments like these abound this season; they’re honest glimpses into regular life that only have meaning because they’re never seen on screen. Dollface is never going to be a show that revolutionizes comedy. It’s never wanted to do that.
Instead, what Dollface can offer you is a warm smile, a stunning blush blanket, and an overpriced beverage as it reassures you that it’s OK. Because of reasons that seem inexplicable, it’s incredibly difficult to be a woman. It’s possible to get through these continuous difficulties with the help of others, just like Jules and her friends did.
