Andrew “Drew” Alexander, the son of Lamar Alexander, a former senator from Tennessee, and Leslee “Honey” Alexander passed away on Friday after a brief illness. He was 52.

Drew Alexander was born in Washington, D.C., in 1969, and his family relocated there when he was a year old so that his father could practise law and launch a career in local and federal politics.

According to his obituary, the younger Alexander graduated from University School in Nashville before attending Kenyon College in Ohio to receive his Bachelor of Arts in music. He moved back to Nashville and started working for Curb Records, eventually working his way up to become the head of the publishing department.

Guitarist Drew Alexander, a classically trained musician, left Curb in 2017 after 23 years of service. Still, according to the obituary, he continued to work with the Mike Curb Foundation and established his own business, Blair Branch Music. He also volunteered with several Nashville organisations, such as Room at the Inn, Nashville Rescue Mission, and Second Harvest Food Bank.

He was a member of the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, and the Gospel Music Association. He hosted dozens of artist retreats at various locations, including the family’s home at Blackberry Farm in Blount County, where Bill Anderson, Kelsea Ballerini, Lee Brice, Kyle Jacobs, and Billy Montana performed. The retreats produced more than 1,000 songs, some of which became big singles.

According to his obituary, he loved fishing and travelling, and he supported the Tennessee Titans and the basketball and football squads of the University of Tennessee.

Lauren Blair Alexander and Helen Victoria Alexander, both of Nashville. His sisters Leslee Alexander of Maryville and Kathryn Alexander of Briarcliff Manor, New York, his brother Will Alexander of Nashville, and seven nieces and nephews are among Drew Alexander’s surviving family members.

The Alexander family acknowledges the friends of Drew Alexander, Bruce Phillips and Hal Hardin for their numerous acts of compassion.

According to the obituary, the Rev. William J. Carl, Drew Alexander’s uncle, will preside over a private interment funeral at the family cemetery at Hesse Creek Chapel in Walland. Later on, there will be a memorial service in Nashville.
