Tuesday near Eagan, northbound Interstate 35E was stopped for more than seven hours due to a significant collision involving three automobiles, including a police cruiser. Officer Kade Eggum, 22, of Eagan, Minnesota, was responding to an emergency call when, around five in the morning, a semi-truck struck his squad car on the highway close to Yankee Doodle Road.

He was sent to Regions Medical Center. He was in critical but stable condition early on Wednesday. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Eggum was driving a squad car with its emergency lights in the right lane on 35E. He ran into a northbound semi while attempting to turn left at a median crossover. Before the squad stopped in the middle of the median, a third vehicle was struck on the passenger side.
