Elden Ring has sold more than 13.4 million copies so far, and it keeps getting more and more fans every day. Since its release in February, it’s been near the top of the Steam charts almost constantly, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better Game of the Year contender than FromSoftware’s latest action RPG. But even though many fans play the game over and over again (there are 6 endings, after all), most of the community is eager to see what the developer does with the game next, especially in terms of more post-launch content.
This article tells you everything we know about the highly anticipated paid DLC Elden Ring, including when it might come out and what you can expect from it.
Elden Ring DLC Release Date
The Elden Ring paid DLC has no official release date as of the time of writing, but you’ll find everything (if any) information that the developer gave in this post as well as some prediction from Ginx on when we might see it arrive. On December 7, 2022, the Colosseum’s free PvP upgrade (1.08) was made available. Finding a release timeframe for an Elden Ring paid DLC, though, would be just as challenging as defeating Malenia using a Dance Pad as a controller.
FromSoftware often produces a sizable piece of DLC material, which is frequently viewed as a full expansion, for their games in less than a year, with the exception of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Elden Ring will be released on February 25, 2022, therefore based on past experience with FromSoftware games, we anticipate the first DLC to arrive before that date.
At the time of writing, there has been no formal announcement on the potential expansion. As soon as an Elden Ring DLC or expansion is formally revealed, along with a potential release date, we’ll keep you informed.

Elden Ring DLC Rumours & Leaks
Some people think that the first DLC for Elden Ring will be a PvP-focused expansion that might take place in the Colosseum in Caelid. In the base game, this is guarded by a Giant Pot Warrior. If you beat 3 NPC dualists in front of him, he’ll give you a talisman. The big building behind him looks important, but there isn’t a way to get to it yet in Elden Ring.
As VGC first reported, a Twitter user named Sekiro Dubi says that dataminers have found “new Colosseum map files, assets, and textures” since the game’s 1.07 update. This suggests that the big unused areas will be used in any future DLC.
Such a place would be perfect for a DLC that’s all about PvP. PvP boss fights are one of the most popular parts of Souls games. This is when another player is called in to control or be the boss instead of the boss being controlled by AI. Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3 all had boss fights like this, but Elden Ring, for some reason, didn’t have one.
It’s important to note that Dark Souls 3 didn’t get a PvP boss battle until its second and final DLC. This makes it very likely that one will show up in the Elden Ring DLC as well. The Colosseum leak turned out to be true on December 6, 2022. The free update came out on December 7, 2022.
New Bosses Leak
Sekirodubi has also found more clues in the code of the last patch for the Elden Ring. This time, the update talks about up to 30 new bosses as well as new items and hairstyles. The dedicated dataminer has also found up to 16 new or NPC or enemy characters called “Someone Yet Unseen.”
Last but not least, Sekirodubi has found more proof of a PvP DLC because the word “Colosseum” is now in the game code. Even if the Elden Ring DLC doesn’t have a PvP mode or a boss challenge, it looks like we’ll still visit that big circular building at some point.
Elden Dreams
Lance McDonald, a dataminer, found that Elden Ring used to have items and quests that let you explore the dreams of certain NPCs. This was first reported by Eurogamer. Even though the content was taken out of the main game, it might be saved for future DLC.
An NPC named Monk Jiko asks the Tarnished to bring him something called Dream Mist in the content that was cut. To get it, the player has to go into the dreams of an NPC. This gives players a lot of room for creativity and lets them fight nightmares on top of all the other scary things in the Lands Between.

Extended Endings
Bandai Namco’s last two games with FromSoftware, Dark Souls DS 2 and 3, had DLC that made the base game’s ending last longer. But it didn’t change or contradict any of the endings the player had already seen. Once the player had finished all three DLC packs for Dark Souls 2, the Three Crowns DLC let them do an extra quest that led to a new ending. This one gave the player a third choice, in addition to linking to the fire or not.
Those who finished both Dark Souls 3 DLC packs got a free ending that could be played alongside any other endings unlocked by playing the base game. This one gave the characters a way out of the dying world: they could go into a painted world. It will be interesting to see how the Elden Ring DLC changes the game’s different endings or the world we explore.

Elden Ring DLC Bosses
Even if you find and kill every Shardbearer in Elden Ring, there is still one demigod who gets away. That is Miquella the Unshakeable. When the credits roll, he is still sound asleep in his egg. Malenia’s twin brother, Miquella, is said to be the strongest demigod in Elden Ring. So, if this is true, why don’t we fight him more often?
One answer is that we don’t need to bother with him because we can get his piece of the Elden Ring by killing his captor and half-brother, Mohg the Lord of Blood. Even Gideon Ofnir tells us to leave Miquella alone, but was this short-sighted? Since FromSoftware doesn’t do anything random with Souls bosses, we think Miquella’s absence is on purpose. Don’t forget that the demigod is sleeping in his egg to get stronger so that he can help his family, especially his sister, who is sick with scarlet rot.
When he wakes up, a new Elden Lord will have killed his whole family, including Malenia. This is not likely to make him happy. This makes it easy for Miquella to be the main bad guy in any DLC for the Elden Ring. Not only is he getting stronger, but when he finds out what’s going on, he will be angry at the Tarnished.
Add to the Story
At the GOTY Awards, Elden Ring was named Game of the Year. In his acceptance speech, Miyazaki said, “There are still a lot of things we want to do with Elden Ring.” This means that after the Colosseum update, there’s likely to be more DLC, and it’s likely to be a bigger, story-driven expansion like the ones for Dark Souls.
Miyazaki’s comments also suggest that Elden Ring might get more than one DLC in the near future. A Twitter user named SekiroDubi, who correctly predicted the Colosseum DLC, has also mentioned something called m20, which suggests that this is likely the second – and first real – expansion to Elden Ring that is currently being made.

Ray Tracing and Other New Updates
Elden Ring’s 1.07 update is now live, and dataminers in the community have found some interesting things that are likely coming to the game soon. The first thing to notice is that it looks like FromSoft is adding ray tracing to the game’s graphics. So far, the developers haven’t said anything official, but Souls expert Lance McDonald says that dataminer sennoutantei found “menu strings related to ray tracing features” in the code of the update.
The update also has “references to two new maps that do not yet exist in the game data,” which might be even more exciting. We don’t know what these areas will be or how they will look, but it’s almost certain that From is getting the game ready for upcoming DLC.
