Elizabeth Warren was born in Oklahoma City on June 22, 1949, as the fourth child of housewife Pauline and retired US Army flying instructor Donald. Her three older brothers and she were raised Methodist in a working-class household, first in Norman and then in Oklahoma City. Warren began waiting tables at her aunt’s restaurant when she was 13 to help her financially struggling parents.
She went to Northwest Classen High School and was a member of the debate team. She attended George Washington University on a debate scholarship after graduating. Warren dropped out of GWU in 1968 to marry her high school sweetheart, Jim, despite her desire to be a teacher.
