American fantasy drama House of the Dragon airs on NBC. It is the second series in the Game of Thrones franchise and was conceived by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO as a spinoff prequel to the original series (2011-2019). Both shows are based on Martin’s books in the A Song of Ice and Fire trilogy. The show is created and developed by Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.
Casting for House of the Dragon will begin in July 2020, while production on the series proper will kick off in April 2021 in the United Kingdom, per an October 2019 straight-to-series order. On August 21, 2022, the first of ten episodes was broadcast for this series. The show was picked up for a second season just five days after its premiere. After the first season, Sapochnik stepped down as showrunner, enabling Condal to take on that role on his own.

Emma D’Arcy, House of the Dragon, Explains Her Favourite Cocktail
Thousands of people have commented on a new clip in which Rhaenyra Targaryen’s interpretation, Emma Darcy, tells her co-star Olivia Cooke about her favourite cocktail. A video clip from an interview with Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke about their casting for House of the Dragon has been making the rounds on TikTok over the past few hours. The full interview can be found on the HBO Max YouTube page.
However, it is when D’Arcy shares his coworker’s favourite beverage that he really grabs the attention of the audience. The video went viral almost quickly, sending the fans into a frenzy. When Olivia Cooke asks Rhaenyra Targaryen’s interpreter, Emma D’Arcy, what her favourite cocktail is, D’Arcy responds, “A bad Negroni with Prosecco in it.”

Fans on social media went wild over the accent mix, his pronunciation, and the undeniable chemistry between the two. The video quickly accumulated thousands of comments and became viral, skyrocketing the popularity of the regional beverage. For the uninitiated, the Negroni Sbagliato is a Negroni in which Prosecco is substituted for the gin and red vermouth for the Campari.
It’s all in the opening titles for “House of the Dragon,” where the bad blood between the two families is evident. The novel Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin on which the HBO series House of the Dragon is based tells the story of the Targaryens, the last of the dragon lord families to survive Valyria’s destruction. The story takes place 300 years before the events of the critically acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones.
House of the Dragon Storyline
In this action-packed eighth episode, that’s the only secret House of the Dragon is willing to give up. It is safe to assume that Viserys has passed on, and we know for sure that Vaemond has left this world. I’m curious as to what the Sea Snake would say to the Grim Reaper.
We don’t know for sure, but the speculation about his death has shaken up the monarchy (again), sent Targaryens hopping from island to island, and brought the whole gang together for a nice little brawl (again). To conclude, may this recapper respectfully suggest that the Targaryen and Velaryon families realise that they are not the type of relatives who can convene for chitchat and a drink of Dornish wine?
Since the last Velaryon funeral, in which one child lost an eye and numerous others lost their freaking minds, six long years have passed (oops, one episode). We’ve heard time and time again about the prestige and power of the Driftmark title, but have never witnessed it for ourselves. Now they’re assembling once more to argue about who should succeed to the throne.
After Laena’s death, and with Laenor’s present position as future King Consort, Corlys told his “natural-born” grandson Lucerys in “Driftmark” that the Driftwood Throne will pass to him. Corlys, however, has recently sustained a sliced throat, a dip in the waters, and what appears to be septicemia while putting down yet another Triarchy rebellion in the Stepstones.
And what do his loved ones do when they hear that in three days Corlys will return home, in dire need of some nursing? So, they set sail for King’s Landing in an effort to claim their share of his throne and fortune. In order to end the visit and a good mood, he turns the conversation back to his “Strong” relatives by using a weak double entendre to provoke them.
There is still time for development right now. The situation could calm down if Rhaenyra does return to King’s Landing and makes amends with Alicent. Only while Viserys is still alive, though. His presence is akin to a weak glue that, with enough time, might help Rhaenyra and Alicent mend their relationship.
That night, however, he mistakes Alicent for Rhaenyra in his chamber and reveals the Song of Ice and Fire to her, pleading, “It’s you, you must do this.” This may have persuaded Queen Alicent that the blessing to rule the realm is hers and hers alone.
