According to deputies, a driver who crashed his automobile near Lake Bluff on Sunday evening and fled the scene on foot was found thanks to the assistance of Lake County Sheriff Canine Dax.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to an unincorporated Lake Bluff single-vehicle accident. The automobile hit a tree and the driver got out and ran off on foot.
Both Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy John Forlenza and his handler, Lake County Sheriff’s Canine Dax, were called to the site to offer assistance. According to the sheriff’s office, Dax followed a trail that led to a house in the 13300 block of Ashford Road in unincorporated Lake Bluff.
The driver was discovered at the house, which belonged to one of his friends. The sheriff’s office posted on social media, “Excellent boy Dax! “

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies issued the guy traffic citations for fleeing the scene of an accident and failing to lower speed to prevent one. Driving while intoxicated was not brought against the motorist. It’s not known why he left the area.
In 2015, Canine Dax started working for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
He was named Law Enforcement Hero Dog of the Year in 2019 and is frequently mentioned in the news for his efforts in locating the missing, catching evading offenders, and recovering illegal drugs.
