Fatal Accident on I-77 Today: Officials say that a collision that occurred on Interstate 77 northbound in South Carolina has slowed traffic for commuters heading in the direction of Charlotte. According to the York County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Department of Transportation cameras, the collision that occurred on Interstate 77 near Gold Hill Road, which is located south of the state boundary with North Carolina, caused lanes to be stopped at approximately 7:45 a.m.
Webcams operated by the Department of Transportation showed northbound traffic on Interstate 77 backed up past Rock Hill and continued beyond Exit 82. According to the website for the traffic division of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the collision was reported before 7 in the morning.

On Tuesday morning, sheriff’s deputies and South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers stayed at the scene of the incident. It is currently unknown when the accident will be cleared and when lanes will be reopened.
