According to authorities, a married father of two and firefighter from New York City who was harmed in a training accident at his firehouse earlier this week will not recover from his wounds, and his family has decided to donate his organs.
A little before noon on Monday, William Moon II, a 21-year FDNY veteran, fell roughly 20 feet while getting ready for a drill at his Sterling Place firehouse in Brooklyn. He had a severe head injury and was in critical condition when he was rushed to the hospital. Still, according to Mayor Eric Adams and FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh, it quickly became apparent that he wouldn’t survive.
To help other people, his family decided to donate his organs. Moon was 47 when he died. The Islip, Long Island resident’s wife, Kristina, and their two kids are still alive.
