FLORIDA’S LONGWOOD (WFLA) – According to reports, a 12-year-old girl avoided her father’s attack by pretending to be dead when he killed the girl’s younger sister early on Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon, according to police, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the girl’s 39-year-old father, Juan Bravo-Torres, on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
The 12-year-old was listed in critical but stable condition on Friday, according to the Longwood Police Department. Bravo-Torres, who slit his own wrists after the assault, is also in critical condition, according to the police. According to WESH 2 News While the girl was sleeping, Bravo-Torres entered her chamber and slashed her throat. The girl reported to the police that her father had gone to obtain another knife before she followed him out of the room. She then discovered her sister, age 3, dead in the hallway.

In the hopes that her father would stop hitting her, she reportedly tried to fight him off before pretending to be dead. According to WESH, the youngster left the house after witnessing her father cut his wrists and travelled about a mile to a McDonald’s, where her mother was employed. She informed her mother that Bravo-Torres had injured her and that her sister might be missing in action.
The girl’s 3-year-old sister was found dead in the girl’s home when police got there at 5:40 in the morning, according to the police, and Bravo-Torres was seriously hurt from stab wounds. Bravo-Torres and the girl were then taken urgently to the hospital, according to WESH. When Bravo-Torres is released from the hospital, he will be placed under arrest and sent to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
