An official from the Florida Hospital Association has announced that COVID-19 related hospitalizations this year were lower than they were on the same day in 2020, believing that the summer surge for the COVID-19 delta variant is “over.”
Mary C, Mayhew, President and CEO of the Florida Hospital Association, said Friday that although COVID-19 is still a concern, the summer Delta surge in the state is “over,” WSVN reported.

Booster Shots Are Encouraged, Patients Can ‘Mix and Match’ Vaccine Brands
According to health experts, booster shots could help a person even more in keeping COVID-19 at bay. Officials of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently said that patients may “mix and match” vaccine brands.
Health experts said that people can choose the brand that they were given before or choose a different one, saying that receiving an additional shot regardless of brand is a good idea.
“It’s generally recommended that you get the booster that is the original regimen that you got in the first place, but for one way or the other, and there may be different circumstances for people, availability or just different personal choices, you can, as we say, mix and match,” nation’s top infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said.
Those who received Pfizer or Moderna vaccines 65 and older or those at a high risk of getting infected can get the booster shot six months after receiving their second dose. People vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson can get their booster shots at least two months after their shot.
Vaccination Rate In Florida
Per Our World in Data, Florida has now administered 28 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, 12.7 million of whom are already fully vaccinated, accounting for 59.2% of the whole state population.
