Florida Police Stop a Lady From Driving a Car Across a 5k Route to Preventing a Mass Casualty Incident. On Thanksgiving morning, according to Florida police, a woman was allegedly ready to drive her automobile through the course of a 5K run.

According to FOX 13, the St. Petersburg Police Department said that Ashlee Lauren Morgan, 38, was travelling at 60 mph on Thursday as she approached 21st Avenue NE along the Coffee Pot Turkey Run course in her 2019 Range Rover Velar.

According to police, the woman’s car was halted before it passed through the 5K course, which was blocked off to traffic.

According to an arrest report, Morgan was allegedly driving “recklessly” as she approached the route where about 3,000 people were taking part in the 5K.

Morgan “refused, rejected instructions of ‘Stop!’ and fled the scene of the stop at a very high rate of speed, into the real racecourse, further endangering the lives of runners/race participants,” according to police in the court filing.

The woman tried to escape the cops but was ultimately “made to halt” at a crossroads. Florida Police allege that if Morgan had not been stopped, there would have been “major casualties to race participants.”

According to the affidavit, when one officer tried to stop Morgan, she “put her hand up in the air in a dismissive gesture and fled from him as well.”

Authorities claim that after being apprehended, Morgan “repeatedly smashed her head” against a police car’s window and refused to put her feet back inside, sticking her feet “out of the rear driver side door.”

According to officials, she was eventually pepper sprayed to get her to cooperate with the police.

She is accused of reckless driving, running and escaping police on two occasions, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and resisting an officer without using force.
