A Florida woman who allegedly opened fire on passing cars in Orange County earlier this month, killing a 27-year-old wife and mother, has been taken into custody. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday that murder detectives had detained Angila Baxter, 56, in connection with the killing of Nekaybaw Collier on January 12. She is accused of committing second-degree murder using a weapon.
According to the sheriff’s office, Baxter allegedly stated she was being followed by several individuals when she rashly started firing bullets at several vehicles and persons, killing Collier. The sheriff’s office expressed its sympathies to Nekaybaw’s family and noted that Collier was an innocent victim in the senseless slaughter of the young mother, wife, and daughter. Unconscious Woman Discovered in Car
Collier was discovered unconscious in her car in the 5200 block of North Powers Drive shortly after 7 o’clock on January 12; deputies said she was later pronounced dead at a hospital. According to an autopsy, Collier’s body had rounds from Baxter’s handgun. A guy called deputies on January 12 and claimed a Black woman in a red SUV shot at him while driving on North Pine Hills Road, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 35 Orlando.
According to the affidavit, the vehicle was parked in the middle of the street, not far from Belco Drive. According to the man, the woman was shooting at cars passing by her when one of the bullets struck his rear passenger quarter panel. The woman in the red SUV allegedly pulled up next to another woman’s car at 7 o’clock the same day, shouting obscenities, according to a police report. Before leaving, she claimed to have heard “two thumps” in her car.
The woman discovered two bullet holes in the front of her automobile on January 14—two days later. According to reports, she returned to the area and located a witness. In a photo lineup on January 14, the witness recognized Baxter as the lady who had been “shooting at cars and screaming expletives at random people in the neighborhood,” according to deputies.
Baxter told detectives she couldn’t recall the day of the shootings but that she did recall that “several automobiles were following her,” according to Fox 35. According to Baxter, when a woman started following her, she pulled out her gun in the same spot where Collier was slain and fired it into the air. She also acknowledged firing at numerous autos on the same day. Nekaybaw Collier, 27, was shot and killed, and Angila Baxter(Instagram Account), 56, is accused of the crime.
