Deputies in Lake County have accused an unnamed woman of killing one of her relatives after they claim she chased him down and shot him. According to deputies, the two had a “long-standing grudge” that led to the shooting.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office claims they are protecting the shooter’s identity even though she has been charged with second-degree murder because she may have been a victim of a sex crime. Just before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Pine Street in Fruitland Park.
Detectives discovered that Jesse McParlin, the victim, was walking through the neighborhood when the suspect spotted her from a house on the same street. McParlin is 39 years old. According to witnesses, the woman yelled at McParlin, chased him down the road, and shot him with a handgun.
The sheriff’s office claims that McParlin managed to escape and run to a neighboring house for assistance. A neighbor there attempted to drive McParlin to the hospital, but McParlin passed away about a mile away on Eagle’s Nest Road close to Calvary Baptist Church.
Later on Saturday night, according to deputies, the shooter surrendered to the Lake County Detention Center. There is no bond placed on her detention. This narrative is evolving. Stay tuned to WFTV as new information enters our newsroom.
