Golden Kamuy Season 4: Will There Be Another Season?

Golden Kamuy Season 4: Satoru Noda is the creator of the Japanese manga series Golden Kamuy (, Hepburn: Gruden Kamui). Weekly Young Jump, a seinen manga magazine published by Shueisha, ran the series from August 2014 to April 2022; the thirty-one tankbon volumes that compile the manga’s chapters are a result of this run. A soldier of the Russo-Japanese War named Saichi Sugimoto is aided on his quest to recover a vast Ainu gold hoard by a young Ainu girl named Asirpa. Hiroshi Nakagawa, a professor of Ainu at Chiba University, is in charge of the story’s use of the Ainu language.

A two-season anime TV series adaptation by Geno Studio debuted in April 2018 and ran until December of the same year. The 2020s fall and winter months saw the broadcast of a third season. In October of 2022, Brain’s Base released the first episode of season four. The movie will be adapted into a live-action picture. Viz Media has held the license to publish the manga in English since 2016. Crunchyroll and Funimation are the anime’s licensed streaming services.

As of June 2022, Golden Kamuy was one of the best-selling manga series, with over 22 million copies in circulation. Two years apart, in 2016 and 2018, the manga was awarded the 9th Manga Taish and the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

Golden Kamuy Season 4 Storyline

The springs of Noboribetsu, one of Hokkaido’s greatest hot springs locations, are said to have curative effects. This is why the 7th Division would transfer it’s wounded and sick there to heal after the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars. During Nikaido and Usami’s relaxing soak in the hot springs of one of Noboribetsu’s most visited attractions, warrant officer Kikuta approaches them. It is there that the two hear about the peculiar experience of Private Rikimatsu Ariko, who ventured further into the highlands in search of hot springs known solely to the Ainu.

A man in a snow geta and oddly patterned clothing was spotted by Ariko. But the low light prevented him from learning much about himself. Later that night, they also ask a blind masseur the same questions, and he promises to share whatever information he learns with them. However, when Ariko inquires about the strange pattern, an elderly Ainu woman explains that they are actually tattoos and not textiles. Kikuta eventually tracks down the remote hot spring, where he identifies the man Ariko had likely seen.

His real name is Anji Toni, and he belongs to Hijikita’s team. Upon learning that several 7th Division officers were investigating the mystery individual who had been seen near the mountain hot spring, Toni devised a strategy to permanently eliminate his adversaries. Toni tries to shoot Kikuta the second he sees him, but he doesn’t realize that the warrant officer has already come prepared. Eventually, Ariko and his companions get into a life-or-death struggle in the mountains. Toni’s men are quickly defeated, but he escapes through a tunnel and continues his flight.

Golden Kamuy Season 4 Ending

Ariko decides to track down the tattooed inmate when Kikuta and he learn that Toni escaped from the tunnel’s opposite end and is likely hiding in the nearby hills. When Usami was shot in the leg, Ariko told Kikuta to stay behind and tend to his wounds. Usami is suspicious, but Kikuta assures him that he can trust Ariko to handle it. Being a member of the Mt. Hakkoda search party is the foundation of his faith.

It was two years before the Russo-Japanese war that a catastrophic mountaineering catastrophe on Mt. Hakkoda claimed the lives of 199 men while the Aomori 5th Infantry Regiment was conducting winter training there. Obviously, search groups were dispatched to look for the missing men, and those who went out into the bitter weather to look for them returned with bodies. The Ainu brought back from Hakkoda that night included Ariko. Kikuta believes he can defeat Toni on his own because he has a superior understanding of the snowy regions.

Ariko lures Anji Toni into a trap using his knowledge of the area after Anji Toni decides to pursue him on his own. He takes advantage of the fact that Toni is depending on his hearing to determine his location. There are other branches he breaks along the road, leading his attacker straight into an avalanche zone. When he finally has Toni where he wants him, he sets up an avalanche by firing at multiple spots in the area. A few days later, Kikuta locates Ariko, who had kept his survival secret from his fellow soldiers.

Toni’s perfectly maintained skin with all of his tattoos is the gift Ariko gives to the warrant officer. He claims that Toni’s body was so deep in the snow that it was physically impossible to return with it. So he cut out the most crucial part of the skin for them to use. Now that they have the perfect present, Kikuta can’t wait to give it to Lieutenant Tsurumi. Ariko is depicted in at least one scene next to a seemingly lifeless Toni. In spite of this overwhelming proof, Anji Toni has been discovered to be very much alive and well. However, such information will not be revealed until later episodes.
