GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) — According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a crash that occurred in the north suburban area on Sunday night resulted in nine people being critically hurt, including one person who passed away and two young children.
According to the Gurnee police, the collision took place at approximately 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Route 45 and Rollins Road. The Mundelein sheriff’s deputies discovered five persons, including a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy, ejected from a vehicle. Among the victims were the children.
According to the results of an initial investigation, a guy in his thirties from Mundelein was travelling westbound on Rollins Road in a GMC Envoy when he attempted to turn left onto Route 45 heading southbound while the signal was still yellow. The Round Lake man, who was 22 years old at the time, was driving an eastbound Ford pickup truck through the intersection when he collided with the GMC.

According to the police, a 62-year-old person who was riding as a passenger in the front seat of the GMC was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where they were later pronounced deceased.
According to the police, two males and three ladies, ranging in age from 24 to 31 to 63, were kicked out of GMC. They were sent to the same hospital with life-threatening to life-threatening injuries, but their conditions have been stabilised and it is anticipated that they will live. The driver of the GMC was also taken to the hospital with critical injuries after the collision.
According to the authorities, it appeared as though the youngsters were sitting on the laps of two of the passengers in the rear seat. The five persons who were thrown out of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts.
Two passengers in the Ford, both 19 years old and hailing from Round Lake Beach and Round Lake Heights, were sent to Lake Forest Hospital for treatment of injuries that were considered significant but were not considered life-threatening. On the scene, paramedics provided medical attention to the driver of the Ford.
Immediately after the collision, debris struck a westbound Toyota Venza, however, none of the vehicle’s occupants was hurt. The debris was thrown from the collision.
The Technical Crash Investigations Unit of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation into the crash.
